The Palos Village Players will present Philip Barry's smash Broadway comedy "The Philadelphia Story" as its first show of the 2009 season.

The production will be staged at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and Feb. 27 and 28 and 2 p.m. Sunday in the Little Theater at Palos South Middle School, 131st Street and 82nd Court, Palos Park.

This story of the romantic entanglements of lovely Tracy Lord, a daughter of the wealthy Philadelphia Lords, starred Katherine Hepburn in the Broadway production.

Christine Haines, of Burbank, will appear as Tracy in the Palos Village Players version.

Her romantic interests include George Kittridge (Luke Simone, of Orland Park), Macauley Conner (Kevin "Rubiks" Haines, of Burbank) and CK Dexter Haven (Charles J. Erickson III, of Tinley Park).

Others in the family include her mother played by Betsey Manzoni, of New Lenox; Bill Merker, of Orland Park as her father; Matt Walsh, of Orland Park, as brother Sandy; Tracy Naughton, of Palos Park, as sister Dinah; and Ken Evans, of Oak Forest, as Uncle Willy.

Additional cast members include Jacqueline Ashcraft, of Shorewood; Lucy Mahoney, of Worth; Chris Sarlas, of Palos Heights; and Stan Wojteczko, of Clarendon Hills.

The play is being produced and directed by David Groebe, of Lemont. The assistant director is Len Wcislo of Hickory Hills.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and students or $10 for groups of 20 or more (reserved in advance) at (708) 479- 3262.

There will also be a Sunday brunch-theater combination available at Hackney's Restaurant, 123rd and LaGrange Road, Palos Park for $25. More information on that package is at (708) 448-8300.

Season tickets are available for the 2009 season, which also will include "Don't Drink the Water" by Woody Allen from May 1 to 9 and "The Lion in Winter" by James Goldman from Nov. 6 to 14.

Season tickets, which include all three 2009 plays, cost $38 for adults or $35 for senior season tickets or Sunday matinees.
